St. Louis Church

Medina Valley Greenhouses
Is owned by our good friends, the Burgeses, an old fashioned Texas nursery with very knowledgeable owners. Check visitors guide for directions. Nice short drive along the river.

Haby’s Alsatian Bakery
Located on Highway 90 towards San Antonio. Fresh baked goods. Excellent.

Rio Medina Store
One of the last true early country stores left in America. Post office, hardware, some antiques, homemade sandwiches. Worth the short 10-minute drive. Highway 471 parallels the river on the other side from River House.

There are several antique shops in Castroville.

Swimming in the river is wonderful! Very peaceful, but please swim at your own risk. It is a natural river and there are submerged logs and typical Texas river critters!

Hondo is a twenty-minute drive west on Highway 90. Several antique shops across the railroad tracks in the old part of town. Ask about the Airport Café for dining.
